Interestingly enough, FGCU is 7-0-1 against the spread in its last eight games as an underdog of at least 12 points. Florida State has an explosive offense led by Dwayne Bacon but is maddeningly inconsistent at 6-4 straight-up and 5-5 ATS across its last 10 games.
No. 13 seeds are 7-5 ATS over the last three years, and two 4 vs. 13 matchups stand out from Thursday’s games in the Round of 64. The Florida Gators are 9.5-point favorites against the East Tennessee State Buccaneers with a 147-point total. Florida is 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five games after an ATS loss. East Tennessee State, which has some size around the rim, is 3-1 ATS in its last four games against SEC teams.
The Purdue Boilermakers are 10.5-point favorites against the Vermont Catamounts with a 134.5-point total. Purdue, which lost in the Big Ten tournament, is 9-0 SU in its last nine games after losing as a favorite. Vermont is 21-0 SU in its last 21 games.
At least one No. 12 has made the Round of 32 in 15 of the last 16 seasons. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 6.5-point favorites against the Princeton Tigers with a 134.5-point total. The total has gone UNDER in six of Notre Dame’s last seven games. Princeton is 13-3 ATS in its last 16 games as an underdog of seven points or more.
The Iowa State Cyclones are 6.5-point favorites against the Nevada Wolf Pack with a 156-point total. Nevada, a No. 12 seed, is 9-0 SU and ATS in its last nine games, and is 0-6 ATS in its last six games as an underdog of at least 6.5 points.
The Creighton Bluejays and Rhode Island Rams’ matchup is a pick’em with a 142-point total. Creighton is 1-5 ATS in its last six games against teams with winning records. Rhode Island is 0-13 SU in its last 13 games against the Big East.
The Miami Hurricanes are two-point favorites against the Michigan State Spartans with a 125.5-point total, the lowest in the Round of 64. Miami is 4-14 ATS in its last 18 games as a favorite. Michigan State is 0-8 SU and ATS in its last eight games as an underdog of two points or less.
No. 10 seeds went 3-1 ATS against No. 7 seeds in 2016.
The South Carolina Gamecocks are 1.5-point favorites against the Marquette Golden Eagles with a 144.5-point total. Seventh-seeded South Carolina is 1-9 ATS in its last 10 games.
