Neither Paige nor Xavier Woods is expected to be disciplined after a number of Paige’s private explicit photos and videos were leaked onto the Internet.
This update comes from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, who stated on the newest Wrestling Observer Radio that the WWE does not plan to punish anyone involved in the leak at this time. He cites the fact that sponsors have not expressed outrage or demanded that the company take action against Paige, and as long as the sponsors remain happy, Meltzer suspects no further action will be taken.
This will come as good news for fans who were worried about Paige’s future in the WWE, although it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s out of the woods. After all, the former Diva’s Champion was already in a bit of hot water with the company before these leaks, being suspended twice last year for two violations of the company’s wellness policy. She also on a number of occasions has showed up with her boyfriend Alberto Del Rio at rival promotions.
In fact, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported back in September, long before the photo hack, that Paige is likely done with the WWE. There were subsequently rumors that Paige would be quitting the company, although that did not end up being the case. As chronicled on Total Divas, a big reason for Paige’s absence has been that she has been recovering from a neck injury, undergoing surgery in October 2016.
Although Paige’s future with the WWE is unclear, it appears that Xavier Woods is not in any sort of trouble after he was featured in one of the leaked Paige videos. That became especially clear on Monday Night Raw this week, when The New Day actually referenced the Paige situation. The New Day was kept backstage for the show, but there was a brief segment in which Big E and Kofi Kingston look at Xavier Woods disapprovingly. Big E then asks Xavier Woods if there’s anything he wants to talk about, clearly leading the viewer to believe that they’re going to address the Paige situation. However, Woods quickly changed the subject to WrestleMania.
Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio also noted this week that it would look bad if the WWE punished Xavier Woods or Paige for this photo leak but then brought back Hulk Hogan. There have been rumors recently about the WWE slowly phasing Hogan back into its programming two years after they fired him and stopped selling his merchandise following a leaked video on which Hogan makes racist comments and complains about his daughter dating a black man.
Although it seems that the WWE is interested in quickly moving on from this whole Paige situation, it remains to be seen whether its crowds will feel the same way. This week on Raw, the Brooklyn crowd referenced the situation a number of times, chanting “We want Paige!” during an unrelated match between Charlotte and Dana Brooke. They also yelled Paige’s name when The New Day appeared on screen.
