WATCH: New ‘Justice League’ Teasers Announce New Trailer

A brief teaser for Justice League aired during NBC’s Today Show, announcing that the first trailer for the film will be released on Saturday. Warner Bros. has yet to say how the trailer will be released, but it will be the first footage from the film since we saw scenes at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2016.

The footage began with the Aquaman logo on the screen, before showing off never-before-scene shots of Jason Momoa playing the character. The footage ended with a scene of the main Justice League members in a ship, ready to jump into action. There are expected to be more of these, one for eacch member of the team, before the trailer debuts.

Here’s the Batman teaser:

Here’s The Flash teaser:

Again, Warner Bros. didn’t announce anything before this tease was shown on Today, so it’s not clear when or where the studio will release the trailer. There are NCAA basketball games on Saturday on TBS, so that could be a possible venue if the studio wants a more high-profile outlet than just dropping it online.

While we wait for the new trailer, it’s a good idea to follow director Zack Snyder, who has been constantly sharing behind-the-scenes updates on his Twitter page. For example, here’s an Aquaman VFX test he posted on March 1:

Here’s a reel Snyder shared in October when principal photography wrapped in the U.K.

Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017. It’s surprising that Warner Bros. would start promoting the film in earnest now though, since Wonder Woman still hasn’t come out yet. That movie opens on June 2, 2017.

The new film stars Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana. Ezra Miller plays The Flash and Ray Fisher plays Cyborg. Fisher, Mamoa and Miller were briefly seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Miller also got a cameo in Suicide Squad. Batman v Superman ended with Bruce telling Diana that he needs to get a band together to face the coming challenges, now that Superman is “dead.”

The Justice League trailer is also dropping a year-to-the-day that Batman v Superman hit theaters. After this film, there won’t be another DC Comics movie until Aquaman hits theaters on December 21, 2018. It was supposed to hit two months earlier, but The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the James Wan-directed movie was delayed.

In an interview with Collider in June, Snyder insisted that Justice League will have a lighter tone compared to Batman v Superman. He also confirmed that the first Justice League is definitely the a complete movie, so fans don’t have to worry about there being a huge cliffhanger at the end.

“I do believe that since Batman v Superman came out and we’ve wrapped our heads around what Justice League would be, I do think that the tone has, because of what fans have said and how the movie was received by some, is that we have kind of put the screws to what we thought the tone would be and I feel crushed it that little bit further,” Snyder explained.

Here’s the July SDCC footage:

Becky G: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

(Kimberley French/Lionsgate)

Becky G, who was born Rebecca Marie Gomez, plays Trini in Power Rangers, the reboot of the popular ’90s TV series. Her character is the Yellow Power Ranger and has gained some extra attention for being gay. This lets Lionsgate and producer Haim Saban claim that Power Rangers is the first big-budget superhero movie to include an LGBT hero.

Gomez is better known for her skills as a singer, scoring a big hit with the 2014 singles “Shower” and “Can’t Stop Dancin.’” She’s also working on her first full-length solo album, which will include the Spanish-language singles “Mangu” and “Sola.”

Gomez has an estimated net worth of $1 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. You can follow her on Twitter at @iambeckyg and on Instagram.

Here’s what you need to know about the 20-year-old Becky G.

1. Her ‘Power Rangers’ Co-Star Naomi Scott Introduced Her to Her Boyfriend, Sebastian Lletget

During a radio interview with Mega 96.3, Gomez revealed that she met her current boyfriend, soccer player Sebastian Lletget through Naomi Scott, who plays Kimberly Hart in Power Rangers. She said that Lletget is friends with Scott’s husband, Jordan Spence.

“[Our introduction] kind of came about while we were filming the movie. The way we got introduced, me and Sebastian, was through my co-star Naomi. Her husband — she’s 23, they’ve been married for a couple years now — and [him] played soccer together, him and Sebastian. So Nae met me and was like, ‘Girl, you’re awesome! You deserve to be with a man!’” Gomez recalled, notes J-14.

She continued, “I was like, ‘Nah, I don’t want to be with anybody. I’ve been there, done that [with] the relationship thing. I’m focused right now. I’m good. I’m good.’ She’s like, ‘It’s fine, it’s fine, I already know who you’re going to marry. It’s fine, it’s fine.’”

But then Scott showed her a video of Lletget and she immediately thought he was “fine.” So, she agreed to meet him and they’ve been dating since April 2016.

When her boyfriend was named to the U.S. National Soccer Team, she congratulated him on Instagram. “I don’t know anyone more deserving of this opportunity. I’m proud of you,” she wrote.

2. Her Character is the First LGBT Protagonist in a Superhero Movie

Although smaller indie films, like Moonlight for example, Hollywood’s big blockbusters have been slower to embrace LGBT characters. That’s because they have to also sell in markets that aren’t as open to LGBT representation.

Gomez’s character Trini, the Yellow Power Ranger, is the first LGBT protagonist in a big-budget superhero move. According to The Hollywood Reporter, there’s a scene in the film where she says she’s having “girlfriend problems” instead of “boyfriend problems.”

“For Trini, really she’s questioning a lot about who she is,” director Dean Israelite told The Hollywood Reporter. “She hasn’t fully figured it out yet. I think what’s great about that scene and what that scene propels for the rest of the movie is, ‘That’s OK.’ The movie is saying, ‘That’s OK,’ and all of the kids have to own who they are and find their tribe.”

“They really stepped up to the plate,” David Yost, who played the Blue Ranger in the original Power Rangers and is openly gay, told THR. “I think so many people in the LGBTQI community are going to be excited to see that representation.”

3. This Is Gomez’s First Big Movie Role

This is Gomez’s first big movie role. She was previously a little-seen movie called House of Sin (2011) and played Valentina Galindo in two episodes of Empire in 2015. She’s also working on a movie called Miles with Lucy Hale.

“It was really exciting for me,” Gomez told Teen Vogue when asked about jumping from music to acting. “To be quite honest, I was kind of in a place with my music where I wasn’t feeling inspired anymore. I kind of felt like I was stuck and I didn’t know what was going to happen next. It was this really frustrating moment for me as a creative person to feel like I don’t know what’s beyond.”

She said she felt like she “really, really” needed this and has been inspired to do new things.

“I needed to be in a new head space, around a new environment doing something that I’ve never done before. Inspired to learn again and to feel different things. To feel anxious and nervous and excited again. This movie did just that for me,” she told Teen Vogue.

She also told the magazine that she was a big fan of the Power Rangers franchise and would often pretend to be one with her cousins. “I always wanted to be the yellow one because it just so happened to be my favorite color,” she said.

4. She Grew Up in Poverty & Lived in Her Grandparents’ Garage

In a 2013 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Gomez said she grew up in poverty and had a “little mini midlife crisis” when she was nine years old. At the time, she was living with her parents, brothers Frankie and Alex and younger sister Stephanie in her grandparents’ garage. He mom was “really scared.”

“I did have this moment of realization of, ‘Oh, my God, what am I going to do with my life?’” she told the LA Times. “Just feeling like I had to get my act together, even though there was really nothing to put together yet.”

The Inglewood, California native told the Times that mortgage payments forced her family to give up their Moreno Valley home. As Gomez started working in Hollywood when she was 9, the family was able to get back on their feet financially.

“We of course suffered, like many families did,” Alex, Gomez’s mother, told the Times. “But I feel like if we wouldn’t have lost our home, we wouldn’t be back in L.A., where Becky was able to find her dream, find her niche.”

In 2008, her career started with an appearance in a short film and a Discovery Channel movie. By the following year, she was a member of the group G.L.A.M. and by 2011, she caught the attention of producer Dr. Luke with her YouTube cover of Jay Z and Kanye West’s “Otis.” In 2013, she scored a hit with the single “Becky from the Block.”

“I’m just going to keep being myself,” Goomez told the LA Times. “When I was doing all this acting stuff, all these kids like assumed, ‘Oh, my God, you’re on TV, and you probably have a lot of money.’ And I was living in a garage.”

5. Her Debut Album Will Include Spanish-Language Songs

Despite her success with English-language songs, Gomez has decided to record her first full-length album in Spanish. All the singles she’s released from the album so far – “Sola,” “Mangu” and “Todo Cambio” – have been in Spanish. “Todo Cambio” was released on March 3, 2017.

“I love Latin music,” Gomez told TVyNovelas, adding that her Spanish still isn’t great. Her parents, who were born in Mexico, are helping her.

“I always wanted to do it,” she told Latina when asked about her decision to record in Spanish. “Real talk: I was born in America and I’m proud to be both American and Mexican. I listen to Spanish and English music. The first album that I bought was by Christina Aguilera and on one side you could listen to the song in English and then you’d flip it over and hear the same song in Spanish.”

‘Power Rangers’ Franchise: How Many Sequels Will There Be?

(Tim Palen/Lionsgate)

Now that you’ve seen the Power Rangers reboot, you might be wondering if producer Haim Saban and Lionsgate have plans to keep the franchise going. The answer is yes. Not only does Saban want to make a Power Rangers 2, he wants to make five move movies!

First off, as After Credits notes, there is a brief teaser after the credits that hints at Tommy Oliver, the Green Power Ranger, making an appearance in the reboot series. Just before screenings of the film started on March 23, the official Power Rangers Twitter account sent out a “motion poster,” showing the Green Ranger helmet.

Long before Power Rangers hit theaters, Lionsgate was talking about their bold plan for the franchise. Back in May 2016, Variety reported that Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer told analysts that there could be “five or six or seven movies.”

Saban, who co-created the original franchise with Shuki Levy, told Variety on March 22 that they “already have a six-movie story arc.”

He also made it clear that movies are the future of the long-running franchise because the audience wants great special effects. “Today’s young audience is much more sophisticated,” Saban told Variety. “Think about movies like Jungle Book and Arrival. The effects are mind-boggling. So does the young audience expect more? You bet they do — and they will have it.”

Saban and Levy launched Power Rangers in 1993, and the franchise used stock footage from the Japanese show Super Sentai. Saban Entertainment continued to produce new series of the franchise until 2002’s Wild Storm. That same year, the franchise transferred over to Disney. Saban bought the franchise back in 2010 because he wasn’t satisfied with the direction Disney took it. The series is now in its 24th season, Ninja Steel.

“I monitored from a distance what they were doing,” Saban told Variety. “I think Disney never really got its arms around the value of the franchise.”

Surprisingly, the 2017 Power Rangers film is only the third theatrically released movie in the franchise. In 1995, Saban released Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, which was followed tow years later by Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.

The new movie was directed by Dean Isrealite (Project Almanc) and written by John Gatins (Kong: Skull Island). Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, Becky G, RJ Cyler and Ludi Lin play the Power Rangers, while Bryan Cranston plays Zordon. Elizabeth Banks plays the villain Rita Repulsa.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Montgomery hinted that the relationship between his character Jason and Scott’s Kimberly would be explored further in “potential” sequels.

“In the final cut, there is definitely less of a focus on the romance between them than what we did in production,” Montgomery told the Hollywood Reporter. “It’s more about a five-person story, an ensemble piece, rather than our love story. But there is definitely a lot of room for exploration in potential future films of that element between [them].”

‘Star Wars’ Updates: Han Solo Isn’t His Real Name & More Secrets from Bob Iger

The biggest Star Wars news of the week came from Disney chief Bob Iger, who surprisingly revealed far more secrets about the upcoming movies than anyone would expect. On Thursday, Iger spoke at a University of Southern California tech conference, dropping details on Christopher Miller and Phil Lord’s Han Solo movie and the franchise’s future after Episode IX.

No Changes After Carrie Fisher’s Death

Even though Disney does have plenty of time to make changes to Star Wars: The Last Jedi after Carrie Fisher’s death in December 2016, Iger insisted that there have been no changes made to the film. General Organa, who didn’t have a major role in The Force Awakens, is set to be a big part in The Last Jedi.

“We are not changing 8 to deal with her passing. Her performance remains as it was in 8,” Iger said, reports Variety. “In Rogue One, we created digitally a few characters… We’re not doing that with Carrie.”

That last like is particularly important. After there were rumors that Disney would create a digital version of Fisher for Episode IX, there was a surprising statement from Lucasfilm and Disney.

“We don’t normally respond to fan or press speculation, but there is a rumor circulating that we would like to address,” the January statement said. “We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa.”

Disney famously brought Peter Cushing back to life for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The film also featured a digitally recreated young Princess Leia at the very end.

Han Solo’s Not His Name?

The big stunner from Iger’s talk was that Han Solo might not be Han’s real name. “You’ll also discover how he got his name,” Iger said of the untitled Han Solo movie.

Iger also said that the film will cover Han’s life from the time he’s 18 to 24 years old. That would easily be the longest stretch of time ever covered in a single Star Wars movie. We’ll learn how Han won the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian and how he met Chewbacca. Basically, the film will re-write everything we ever thought we knew about Han’s past in two hours.

The Future of ‘Star Wars’

(Lucasfilm)

After the Han Solo movie and Episode IX, there’s no firm plans on where the star Wars franchise goes next. But as The Hollywood Reporter notes, Iger said they have some plans mapped out for the next decade-and-a-half. When Disney first bought Lucasfilm, all they were imagining was just making a new sequel trilogy.

“We’re starting talk about what could happen after Episode IX. About what could be another decade-and-a-half of Star Wars stories,” Iger said.

As for the Star Wars Land attractions that will open in Disney World and Disney Land in 2019, Iger didn’t say much. He said that there will be a ride that lets visitors ride in the Millennium Falcon “and go for joyrides.”

The Han Solo movie hits theaters on May 25, 2018, while The Last Jedi opens on December 15, 2017. The Last Jedi is being directed by Rian Johnson, while Jurassic World‘s Colin Tervorrow was hired to helm Episode IX. That movie is slated for 2019.

WATCH: New ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Trailer Showcases Michael Keaton’s Vulture

A second trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming was released by Sony on March 28, just hours after it was played at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

The new trailer heavily features the Vulture, a villain played by Michael Keaton. It also has plenty of links to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including a neat little cameo from Chris Evans as Captain America.

Tom Holland made his debut as Peter Parker, a.k.a. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, in Captain America: Civil War after Sony and Disney’s Marvel struck a deal to bring him swinging into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This means Homecoming is part of that world too, which is why Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is featured prominently in the trailer. He’s acting as a mentor for the young Spidey and thinks he should let the other Marvel heroes handle the evil Vulture.

Of course, the Web-Head isn’t going to do that, especially because the Vulture’s tech keeps putting people’s lives in danger. The Vulture tries to convince Peter that billionaires like Tony do not care about people like them. The trailer shows us that Spidey tries and fails to fight the Vulture at first, and needs Tony’s help to get out of the mess. Tony takes his high-tech Spidey suit back, forcing Peter to fight in a home-made costume.

Also, the trailers have proven that Jacob Batalon has a scene-stealing role as Ned Leeds, Peter’s best friend. In the second trailer, he even gets to wear the Spidey costume himself!

As for the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Cap cameo, it comes when Peter is stuck watching a video in class.

Homecoming was directed by Jon Watts. The screenplay was written by Jonathan Goldstein, John Frances Daley, Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers and Jon Watts. Bokeem Woodbine is also starring as Shocker, another villain for Spidey to fight.

Darlene Cates Dead: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Darlene Cates, who played Leonardo DiCaprio‘s house-bound mother in the acclaimed 1993 film What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, died on March 26. The Texas-native was 69 years old.

Cates battled obesity for most of her life, weighing over 500 pounds at one point. In 2012, she announced that she lost 240 pounds and had dreams of re-starting her acting career.

Cates is survived by her husband, retired U.S. Marine Robert Cates; her sons March and Chris; her daughter Sheri Ann; and four grandchildren.

“Darlene was the best acting mom I ever had the privilege of working alongside,” DiCaprio wrote in a statement on his Facebook page. “Her endearing personality and incredible talent will live on in the memories of those who knew her, and those who loved her work. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.”

Here’s a look at her life and career.

1. She Died in Her Sleep on March 26

Cates’ family told TMZ that she died in her sleep on the morning of Sunday, March 25. They did not give any further details.

Cates was born in Borger, a city in North Texas, and grew up in Dumas. When her parents divorced, she was 12 years old and she dealt with the stress by eating. Although she did have a gastroplasty in 1981, she re-gained much of the weight she lost.

The Dallas Morning News reported that Cates’ top weight was 575 pounds. By 2012, she was down to 331 pounds.

At the time of her death, Cates lived in Forney, just outside Dallas.

2. Writer Peter Hedges Discovered Her After Watching a 1992 Episode of ‘Sally Jessy Raphael’ She Was On

Peter Hedges, who wrote the novel and screenplay What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, discovered Cates after watching a 1992 episode of Sally Jessy Raphael. In the 1985 segment, she talked about her life, with daughter Sheri Ann by her side. When she filmed the segment, it was the first time Cates had been out of the house in five years.

What’s Eating Gilbert Grape was published in 1991 and became a film two years later. Directed by Lasse Hallstrom, it stars Johnny Depp as a grocery store clerk who has to care for his obese mother and his mentally disabled brother Arnie. Leonardo DiCaprio earned his first Oscar nomination for playing Arnie.

“There was this immediate draw to her,” Hallstrom said of Cates in a 1993 Los Angeles Times profile of Cates. “There was nothing stereotyped in the real Darlene, because she was so sweet, she had such a wonderful self-irony and such a wonderful sense of humor–and you could tell from that brief interview on Sally Jessy Raphael. She was this wonderful personality in this disguise of her own body.”

After the film’s release, DiCaprio famously wrote a letter about Cates’ acting, which was the first time she’d ever acted in a movie.

“I’m not really the best in expressing my words in writing but you are the most special person I have ever [met],” DiCaprio wrote, notes People Magazine. “I’ll always remember you as the best acting mamma I ever had. You triumphed in your role.”

3. She Began Struggling With Her Weight After a Pelvic Infection

In the Sally Jessy Raphael segment, Cates said that she quickly gained weight after getting a pelvic infection. It caused her to gain 150 pounds quickly.

According to the LA Times, Cates got an infection related to the Dalkon Shield, a contraceptive device that caused injuries to hundreds of people. A 1987 New York Times report notes that over 200,000 American women testified that they were injured and sued A.H. Robins Company, the company that made it.

Cates was bed-ridden for two years. When she recovered in 1985, she weighed too much to even stand.

“I became very depressed,” she told the Los Angeles Times in 1993. “I wouldn’t leave the house except to go to the doctor. I would sit there with a handful of pills and not have the courage to take them and not have the courage to live either.”

5. In 2012, She Said She Lost 240 Pounds & Hoped to Act Again

In 2010, Cates suffered a series of medical setbacks and was in the hospital from December 2010 to November 2011. In 2012, she told the Dallas Morning News that she lost 240 pounds after four surgeries and three “near-death” experiences. Although she still could not walk, she hoped to get back into acting.

She said she had acting opportunities come up before 2010. She still wanted to make one or two more movies. Cates also embraced being typecast as a mom.

“That’s great, because I can do moms real well. I don’t have to delve very deep to find Mom in there,” she told the Morning News.

In that same interview, she showed just how proud she was of Gilbert Grape. “I can always tell when … [Gilbert Grape has] been on TV, because there’ll be a rush of ‘friend’ requests,” she told the Morning News.

Cates had no acting experience when she appeared in Gilbert Grape, and she only received a handful of offers to appear in other projects after the film came out. She made appearances in episodes of Picket Fences and Touched by an Angel in 1994 and 1996, respectively. In 2001, she appeared in a TV movie called Wolf Girl and made a short film called Mother in 2014.

She just finished working on Billboard, a movie written and directed by Zeke Zelker that stars Eric Roberts and Heather Matarazzo. The film is about a radio station hosting a billboard-sitting contest.

“What you weigh may affect your life, it may affect your ability to get a job, your ability to attract a mate, but it doesn’t have anything to do with your value as a person, Cates told the Los Angeles Times in 1993. “(Now) I really feel like there’s not anything I couldn’t try. Boy, talk about being let out of a prison.”

It, which comes from Warner Bros.’ New Line label, went through high-profile creative shakeups on its way to the big screen. Cary Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation) was supposed to direct it, but he left over creative differences. When Fukuaga was still attached, Will Poulter (We’re The Millers, The Revenant) was supposed to play Pennywise. Poulter had to drop out when the film was delayed.

In June 2016, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Skarsgard would play Pennywise The Clown, who terrorizes a small Maine town. Tim Curry played the role in the 1990 miniseries based on King’s novel.

“It’s such an extreme character. Inhumane,” Skarsgård told Entertainment Weekly of his role. “It’s beyond even a sociopath, because he’s not even human. He’s not even a clown. I’m playing just one of the beings It creates.”

3. He’s a Member of the Famous Skarsgard Acting Family That Includes Stellan & Alexander

Skarsgard is a member of the famous Skarsgard acting family. His father is Sellan Skarsgard and his mother is Stellan Skarsgard’s first wife, My Sonja Marie Agnes. His brothers Alexander, Gustaf, Sam and Valter have also become actors. His other siblings are Ossian, Kolbjorn and Eija. Osian and Kolbjorn are his half-brothers, from his father’s marriage to Megan Everett.

His older brother Alexander is easily the most famous of the Skarsgard children. Alexander stars in HBO’s Big Little Lies and also appeared in True Blood.

In an interview with Hero Magazine conducted by his father, Skarsgard said that he sees Gustaf and Ossian the most.

“Gustaf and Oss – yeah,” he told his father when asked if he sees his siblings in Los Angeles. “I had a BBQ here in my little house I’m renting with Brian McGreevy who actually wrote Hemlock Grove – we’re roomies in Los Angeles. We a had little BBQ to celebrate Landon, who you met Dad – he was in the show… Landon Liboiron. He was supposed to come to LA. But he didn’t show because he had two auditions.”

His father also asked Skarsgard why he chose to go into the acting business, since he wanted to travel for a year after graduating school. He even majored in science while in high school. He didn’t want to be seen as an actor who’s only successful because of who his family is.

“The main reason why I didn’t really pursue acting early was because I thought people would say, ‘Yeah OK, here comes another one, he’s been fed on a silver plate of course he’s an actor,’” Skarsgard told Hero. “That’s something I still struggle with because I’ve done four leads in Sweden – you can make the argument that I am the most established for my age in Sweden – and still every time I do an interview they always ask, ‘So Bill, do you really want to be an actor.’”

4. He Played Roman Godfrey on Netflix’s ‘Hemlock Grove’

Skarsgard spent his early career in Sweden, starring in White Water Fury, Arn: The Knight Templar, Simple Simon and Simon & The Oaks.

In 2012, he appeared in Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina, which led to his role as Roman Godfrey in the Netflix horror series Hemlock Grove. The show ran for three seasons from 2013 to 2015.

In a 2013 interview with Collider, Skarsgard explained the character he plays:

I play Roman Godfrey, who’s a son of the Godfrey family. Basically the Godfrey family runs Hemlock Grove town; they used to do it throughout the steel industry, but then my dad on the show decided to change that. When the steel industry was going out, he started investing in biotechnology, so it’s an old steel town that’s now very weird high tech. It has a grungy Pennsylvania look to it, but in the middle of this town there’s a huge white tower where all of this biotechnology is happening. So my character is from that background.

Netflix kept Hemlock Grove alive for three seasons, pulling the plug in 2015. In an interview with Variety that year, Eli Roth teased a future for the show somewhere, but it’s never been revived.

5. Andres Muschietti Tried to Keep the Child Actors in ‘It’ As Far From Skarsgard as Possible During Filming

It director Andres Muschietti attended SXSW in March 2016 to give audiences a preview of the film. As JoBlo reports, Muschietti praised Skarsgard’s performance as Pennywise.

“What I can tell you is that he is terrifying, and there was a lot of work involved in bringing a new version of that character to life. The work I did with Bill Skarsgård was great, and he was amazing and a very impressive, talented, sweet young man,” Muschietti said.

The director also said at SXSW that he tried to keep the child actors in It away from Skarsgard during filming for as long as possible. That way, he really freaked them out when he showed up on the set in full costume.

“We tried to keep Bill away from the kids as much as possible, and there’s of course that first moment of confrontation, but I tried to delay that as much as possible,” Muschietti said at SXSW. “He was with them for the read-through, but then that was it, and all the kids were like, ‘It’s okay, he’s not going to scare us,’ but that first day he got onto the stage, they fucking freaked out. I can’t even describe how scary he looked in person.”

It also stars Finn Wolfhard, Javier Botet, Nicholas Hamilton, Megan Charpentier, Jaeden Lieberher and Sophia Lillis.
